O’Donnell Metal Deck acquired Metal Deck Direct, a Lenoir City, Tenn.-based distributor of metal deck products. Financial terms were not disclosed. 

O’Donnell Metal Deck & Bar Joist, an Elkridge-based commercial construction materials manufacturer, has acquired a Tennessee firm in the same industry, the company announced in a press release late last week.

O’Donnell Metal Deck, a distributor of metal deck and steel bar joist in the U.S. and a portfolio company of Slate Capital Group, has bought Metal Deck Direct. “This acquisition of MDD deepens our relationships in the region and adds to the impressive base our Atlanta office is building,” comments Rick Corcoran, partner and co-founder, Slate Capital Group.

Elkridge-based O’Donnell Metal Deck Friday announced the acquisition of Metal Deck Direct (MDD), adding the Tennessee metal deck distributor to its growing national footprint. The deal comes on the heels of O’Donnell’s acquisition of Spokane, Washington-based Tombari Structural Products in October.

In addition to the Maryland headquarters, O’Donnell Metal Deck has offices in Georgia, Texas, and Arizona. The acquisition, which was finalized in late September, will expand O’Donnell’s market to include the Pacific Northwest region, says Tombari.

Drawn to the industry’s high cashflow and low-risk assets, PE firms are snapping up construction material suppliers in business-friendly regions of the country, including the Southeast and the Rocky Mountains, in a trend that experts say has legs.

TSP’s addition will expand OMD’s geographic reach, according to a release.
